In planning this series, the authors were guided by the Mathematics Curriculum for Primary Schools and the Assessment Framework for the Secondary Assessment 2019-2023. Includes resource booklet of specially selected manipulative resources.
The main objectives of the series are
- To make mathematics a more friendly subject.
- To meet the changing needs and demands of mathematics at the primary school level as outlined in the goals of the new mathematics syllabus.
- To set the foundation for the learning of mathematics beyond primary school.
The design of the series conforms to the student's natural development pattern by spanning the concrete to the semi-concrete to the abstract, the simple to the difficult and the known to the unknown. Each concept of skills begins with a teaching point which is highlighted with an illustration in a box at the top of the page. Concepts are developed, reviewed and reinforced, drawing from other subjects areas if necessary and new concepts are linked to those introduced at an earlier stage. The language is appropriate to the student's level of development and the methodology has been specifically chosen to stimulate and sustain interest.
